School Meals
All pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes are entitled to a school meal free of charge. Nutritious meals are cooked daily onsite by AIP at Parson street primary school. A menu is provided and rotates over a 3 week period and each child is provided with a main meal and pudding. We can provide a range of alternative meals including, but not limited to, vegetarian, vegan and halal. If your child has any specific meal requirements or allergies please contact Luisa Noel (LNoel@parsonstreet.com) who will then liaise with our catering team.

Subject: Important changes to school menus – keeping all pupils safe
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are committed to doing everything we can to ensure all children have healthy and nutritious lunch options when they are at school.
Food safety is our top priority, and we have comprehensive policies and standards, including allergen management, to ensure the safety of our food.
Following a review of our processes, we will update our school menus to reduce our special diets menus from nine menus to one menu, and this change will take effect after the half-term break.
Designed by our nutritionists in partnership with our culinary team, this new menu eliminates the presence of the 12 most common food allergens (milk, eggs, gluten, crustacean, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, soybeans, sesame, celery, mustard, and lupin) and will help to keep more children safe during our busy lunch service.
This change has been designed with the safety and well-being of all children in mind. It’s a crucial step in creating a safer, more inclusive dining environment for pupils with allergies.
Our goal is to create a safer, more inclusive dining environment where every child can enjoy their meals without the risk of exposure to allergens.
Wherever possible, our nutritionists have aligned the allergen menu choice with the standard menu, and we will continue to offer nutritious, balanced and delicious meals for all pupils.
We appreciate your support as we introduce these changes to keep our school community safe and happy.
Regards
AiP

Packed lunches
At Parson street we like to encourage all our children to eat a healthy and balanced lunch, including those who bring a packed lunch. Here is some helpful information to support you with this lunch option.
According to NHS choices a balanced lunchbox should contain:
- Starchy foods like bread, rice, potatoes, or pasta
- Protein foods like meat, fish, eggs, or beans
- A dairy item, like cheese or yogurt
- Vegetables or salad and a portion of fruit
All children are provided with water during lunch time and have access to their water bottles all throughout the day. We encourage children to drink as much water as possible, especially in warmer weather.
Please note we are a nut free school therefore, please do not send your child in with nuts or products that contain nuts such as Nutella.
