We are currently working towards becoming a School of Sanctuary because we believe it is our responsibility to create a safe, welcoming environment for all, particularly for asylum seekers and refugee families who have faced immense challenges. This initiative aligns closely with our vision and values, reinforcing our dedication to fostering a school culture where every individual feels supported and included.
Given the significant global and national movements in recent years, it is more important than ever to equip children with the knowledge and empathy needed to become empowered and compassionate citizens. We know that fear can often stem from a lack of understanding, and through our School of Sanctuary work, we are actively addressing this within our curriculum. By exploring different lived experiences, we help our pupils develop the empathy and awareness they need to engage positively with the world around them.

🌟 Celebrating Courage and Creativity! 🌟
We are incredibly proud to share some wonderful news from our school community. 🎉
Elise in Year 2 has achieved something truly special—she has been named the Key Stage 1 winner of the Bristol Schools of Sanctuary 500 Words Poetry Competition! Her inspiring poem, written on the theme of courage, captured hearts and imagination across the city, standing out among entries from schools all over Bristol.
This is an extraordinary accomplishment, especially for such a young writer. Elise’s words showed not only creativity, but also a deep understanding of what courage really means—something that moved readers and judges alike. 💛
As part of this achievement, Elise was invited to perform her poem at the Schools of Sanctuary celebration event held at We The Curious. What an incredible experience! Standing on stage in such a fantastic venue, Elise confidently shared her work in front of a large audience, including the Mayor of Bristol. We are so proud of the bravery she showed in that moment—living out the very theme of her poem.
The Schools of Sanctuary initiative promotes inclusivity, kindness, and understanding, and Elise’s success is a wonderful reflection of these values. Her achievement reminds us that even the youngest voices can carry powerful messages and inspire others. 🌈
