Pupil Leadership (Green Team)

Green Team – Supporting Personal Development and Sustainability

The Green Team is a pupil‑led initiative that supports Parson Street Primary School’s commitment to environmental responsibility, pupil voice and active citizenship. The club provides meaningful opportunities for pupils to develop leadership skills, collaborate with others, and take responsibility for contributing to their local and wider community.

Through regular activities and discussions, pupils learn about conservation, recycling, and sustainable living, enabling them to understand their role in protecting the environment. Green Team members help to raise awareness across the school community and promote positive behaviours linked to reducing waste, saving energy and caring for the natural world.

Impact and Activities

The Green Team has led and supported a range of initiatives, including:

  • Tree Planting – enhancing the school environment and supporting biodiversity
  • Litter Picking – promoting care for the local area and pride in the school community
  • Awareness Campaigns – creating posters and displays to encourage environmentally responsible behaviour
  • Switch‑Off Day – a whole‑school initiative where only essential electricity is used, helping pupils understand energy conservation and its environmental impact
  •
  • These activities support pupils’ personal development by encouraging responsibility, teamwork and respect for the environment, while also reinforcing learning linked to the curriculum. The Green Team plays an important role in embedding sustainable practices within school life and fostering an awareness of global environmental issues.
