EYFS – Nursery

A Nurturing Start to a Lifelong Learning Journey

At Parson Street Nursery, we believe the early years are the foundation for future success. Our nurturing, stimulating environment gives every child the best possible start to their educational journey.

Learning Through Play, Curiosity and Exploration

We guide children through their learning journey by building on what they already know and can do. Our curriculum offers rich, meaningful experiences both indoors and outdoors, combining purposeful play with high-quality adult-led learning delivered by qualified teachers and experienced Early Years practitioners.

Children are encouraged to explore, experiment and express themselves through enquiry-based learning—whether imagining life as an engineer, musician or author. Creativity, curiosity and independence are at the heart of everything we do.

Supporting Social and Emotional Development

We place a strong emphasis on children’s social and emotional well-being. Emotional literacy, self-regulation and positive relationships are woven throughout our provision, helping children to understand and manage their feelings and to develop a confident sense of self. We know these foundations are key to happy, fulfilled lifelong learners.

A Teacher-Led EYFS Nursery

As a teacher-led Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Nursery attached to Parson Street Primary School, our team includes qualified teachers and dedicated Early Years practitioners who are passionate about early education. Our staff take part in professional development alongside the whole school, and we work closely with the Reception team to ensure children leave Nursery confident, capable and ‘Reception ready.’

When you join our Nursery, you become part of the wider Parson Street community.

A Purpose-Built Learning Environment

Our large, child-centred Nursery classroom—Acorn Class—has been thoughtfully designed to meet the developmental needs of 3- and 4-year-olds.

Children enjoy direct access to a spacious outdoor area that supports active learning and imaginative play. At selected times, Nursery and Reception children share this space, helping them build friendships and further enrich their learning. We also make full use of the wider school facilities, including our meadow, conservation area and playground with climbing equipment.

A Commitment to Quality

We are proud to have been awarded The Bristol Standard Quality Improvement Framework for a number of years. This reflective self-evaluation process supports our team in continuously reviewing and enhancing our practice across ten key areas of quality—ensuring children receive the very best early years experience.
